“ISOW has added to my university experience because it brings together student leadership, experiential learning, and the study of international conflict. ISOW has provided me with the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of students who are affected by global conflict.” - ISOW Student Leader

“ISOW is an amazing educational initiative that connects people from all over the world and introduces them to new cultures and friendships.” - ISOW Student Leader

Future Scholars

Are you interested in becoming an ISOW Scholar? Currently all ISOW Scholars must go through one of our partner organization’s application processes before going through our selection process and being accepted to Wilfrid Laurier University. Please look at our partner organizations’ websites for information on how to apply. If you are selected by one of our partner organizations, you will be put in contact with us for a separate application process.

By becoming an ISOW Scholar, you will:

  • Receive a full scholarship that covers your living costs and tuition for the duration of an undergraduate or graduate program at Laurier.
  • Receive support from ISOW’s student leaders and Faculty Advisor before you arrive to Canada and during your studies.
  • Have the opportunity to build friendships with ISOW student leaders.

“ISOW gives me hope. I wanted to learn and was really motivated but because of the war I could not pay my fees. ISOW has given me the chance to do what I came to Canada to do.” - ISOW Scholar

“ISOW may be one of the most sincere examples of what Laurier prides itself to be: a place where a group of students participate in enhancing the lives of other students regardless of religion, race, or origin." - ISOW Scholar

Future Partners

We are looking for new partnerships to be able to fund additional scholarships in response to the demand that we are facing. We are especially looking for partnerships with private donors. We are open to exploring partnerships that will enable us to sponsor students from new parts of the world. Please send an email to to learn more about becoming a partner with ISOW.

If your organization is not interested in partnering with ISOW’s scholarship program, but is interested in partnering with us on an event to engage the K-W community we would still love to hear from you. Previously, organizations like Najda Now and MT space have partnered with ISOW to run educational events such as the Syrian Film Festival. Please send an email to if you would like to learn more about partnering with ISOW on a community event.
